Big Bold Beefy Grilling Sauce

Serves: 2 cups
This recipes started out as a steak sauce and ended up a BBQ sauce instead. Itis ideally suited to beef.
  • 12 ounce jar chili sauce - I used Heinz
  • ½ cup red wine
  • 3 tablespoons white wine vinegar
  • 5 tablespoons molasses
  • 1½ tablespoons Chipotle adobo
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 3 tablespoons cold butter, cut into 4 pieces
  1. Stir to combine all of the ingredients, except the butter. Bring to a boil and then reduce to a simmer. Simmer uncovered for 10 to 15 minutes or until mixture has thickened to the consistency of BBQ sauce; stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and whisk in butter one piece at a time until incorporated.
  2. Sauce can be made in advance and will keep in the refrigerator in an air-tight container for a couple weeks.
