East Meets West Barbecue Sauce

Ingredients
  • 1 (12-ounce) bottle chili sauce
  • 1 (8-ounce) can tomato sauce
  • ⅓ cup honey
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 4 tablespoons melted unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons unseasoned rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 3 scallions, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons gochugaru (Korean dried chile)
Instructions
  1. Combine all ingredients in a blender and puree until smooth. Transfer to a medium saucepan and bring to a simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and cool to room temperature before storing in the refrigerator in an air-tight container. The sauce will keep in the refrigerator for up to a couple weeks.
